Moua Farm

HISTORY/GENERAL INFO:

You’ll meet Moua Vang, his wife, Chou Her, daughters Bao and Mary, and/or son Xue, at their booth across from Bank of America surrounded by an array of unusual vegetables. Moua and Chou Her have 2 sons and 4 daughters and the older ones help on the farm as well as at the markets. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions; they enjoy teaching customers about the unusual vegetables they grow and sell. Moua worked on his brother’s farm for 8 years before starting his own farm 3 years ago.

SIGNATURE PRODUCE:

Asian vegetables like Chinese broccoli, bok choy, Asian squashes, Japanese and Chinese eggplant, Thai chilies, tomatoes, long beans.

PEOPLE:

Efren has seasonal help from his nephew and brother, while his two children sometimes help at the farmers’ markets.

FUN FACT:

Moua is Hmong, a hill tribe in Laos. He used to work in an elementary school as a bilingual assistant helping kids whose first language is Hmong and Thai.
